Swap History:
The Shepparton Swap
Meet is as old as the Club. A swap meet
has been held in September each year, the first at Numurkah in 1971. From 1973
to 1979 they were held at the Congupna Recreation Reserve. The need for a more
suitable area saw the Swap move to the Shepparton Trotting Track at Kialla in
1980.
As the Swap grew to over 400 sites, so did the
problems. Parking, Highway access and other logistics soon meant the need for
another move.
In 1993
the Swap moved to the Shepparton Showgrounds with 580 sites, growing to
over 700 sites in 2004 drawing large crowds backing up the
claim "that this is one of the best one day swaps in Victoria".
The re-development of the Showgrounds and continued site
demand resulted in 2005, a move to the 'Driver Education Centre of
Australia. This new venue will enable the "Shepparton Swap" to continue
in its quest in providing the motoring enthusiast with "the best one
day swap in Victoria".
